Maintenance FAQs

Do biomass systems require servicing?

Yes. A biomass service is due annually, or after 1800 working hours, whichever comes first. The warranty is only valid if this guideline is followed.

What is included in a biomass system service?

The annual service covers the boiler and fuel intake system only. The record of your service is logged SOLARFOCUS. Optional Extras: Boiler training, Pellet store clean, futher commissioning visits and flue cleaning.

What warranty comes with SOLARFOCUS biomass boiler products?

If the end user holds a SOLARFOCUS service contract, then the warranty for the biomass boiler is valid for 5 years, or 9000 working hours, whichever comes first. The warranty is ALL-INCLUSIVE, which means all declared wear and tear parts are covered during the warranty.

What is a biomass service contract?

A biomass service contract provides a more formal structure and preferential prices. OR Install takes full responsibility for booking-in and carrying-out the annual or bi-annual service.

What does the end user have to do in terms of day to day maintenance of a biomass boiler?

For biomass the principle tasks include arranging for the filling of the fuel store and disposal of the ash.

Does the type of wood have an impact on the service and maintenance of the boiler?

For a log boiler, the user must fill the combustion chamber with wood fuel. SOLARFOCUS wood gasification boilers offer the option for manual or automatic ignition.

For wood chip systems, the principle issue the end user must be aware of is the variability in moisture content and chip size.

With respect to wood pellet systems, dust is the main factor in day-to-day maintenance. Even high-quality wood pellet is made of sawdust and compacted into the pellet form. The objective is to minimise the amount of impacts the pellets receive before combustion, thus reduction the amount of dust generated.

What is the expected lifetime of the SOLARFOCUS biomass boiler range?

The SOLARFOCUS range of boilers are designed to last over 20 years.

Do solar thermal systems require servicing?

Solar thermal systems do not require any day to maintenance from the end user. A solar thermal service occurs every two or three years. The warranty is only valid if this guideline is followed.

What is the expected lifetime of the SOLARFOCUS solar thermal collector range?

The SOLARFOCUS range of solar thermal collectors should last 25 years and more.

What warranty comes with SOLARFOCUS solar thermal products?

The Compound Parabolic Collector has a warranty against condensation build-up within the collector for 10 years. The warranty covers component failure. All call-outs, independent of the agreed service visits, incur labour and mileage costs.

What is a solar thermal service contract?
